Event Wrap Up: John Christopherson Golf Day

The inaugural John Christophersen Golf Day, in support of the Lonsdale Links Foundation was held on Friday 19th of May. A heartfelt thank you to everyone that participated in and supported the day. We had 128 players tee it up for the event and managed to raise $17,487 for the Lonsdale Links Foundation.
The day began with a quick coffee and briefing of the days event, before players made their way out on course and braved frosty Autumn conditions.
There were a number of different activities ready to be enjoyed out on the course in addition to the Gentsomes format competition.
- At 5-ways we were lucky enough to have Teddy & The Fox offering gin and whiskey tastings to warm everyone up
- A mulligan hole out on the 16th hole for those that didn’t make it over the marsh
- A chipping competition on the 1st hole practice green
- A Pro Hole with Matt Rogers hitting drives for teams on the 11th
- In addition to all this, the Christophersen family offered $2000 for any team registering an eagle on the 15th hole (a hole that John famously eagled).
A wonderful lunch was served at the conclusion of play in the Clubhouse, where players heard from Allie Ladlow about the Lonsdale Links Foundation and some amazing words from Anna Christophersen and Peter Daddo.
There were some impressive teams scores, but the day was dominated by the McDonald family with Life Member Leo McDonald leading his team of Simon McDonald, Henk Welleman and Jason McLean to a great score of 104 stableford points to come in second place.
However, the winning team of Jackie McDonald, Petrina Tierney, Trudy Booker and Raelene McDonald stormed in with an amazing score of 109 stableford points.

The inaugural John Christophersen Golf Day was played in a spirit we’re sure John would have been blown away by. We’re extremely proud of how well supported the event was. John was so pivotal in the transformation of Lonsdale Golf Club into Lonsdale Links, a project and Club that was so dear to John’s heart.
We look forward to making this event one of the key events on the Lonsdale Links golfing calendar and we can’t wait to see everyone again for the 2024 John Christophersen Golf Day.
